BDx Breaks Ground on 640MW AI Campus in Indonesia with 845MVA of Secured Grid Power
BDx Data Centers broke ground on September 22 on AI Campus 2 (CGK4), a 640MW campus in Jatiluhur, West Java, Indonesia, attended by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi and Purwakarta Regent Saepul Bahri Binzein.
The campus is backed by 845MVA of grid capacity from PLN, Indonesia’s state utility, under the national grid framework. BDx says that brings its total secured power position across AI-ready campuses in Indonesia to more than 1.2GVA, spanning three sites: AI Campus 1 (CGK3/3A), AI Campus 2 (CGK4), and AI Campus 3 (CGK5).
What Is Being Built
CGK4 will consist of six buildings on a campus approximately five kilometers from the Jatiluhur Dam. Total capacity at full build-out is 640MW of IT load. Construction has begun on Building 1, which will deliver 120MW in phases; the first contracted phase is targeted for service in early 2027.
The facility is built on a direct-to-chip liquid-cooling architecture rated to support up to 500kW per rack — a density level designed for current and next-generation AI accelerators. The campus received NVIDIA DGX-Ready Colocation certification in April 2025.
Financing
A US$320 million loan facility, secured in 2026, is backing construction. BDx is owned by I Squared Capital, a global infrastructure investor.
The company is also pursuing lower-carbon power sourcing, including a hydroelectric arrangement with PJT using capacity from the nearby Jatiluhur Dam, to complement the PLN grid supply.
Indonesia’s AI Infrastructure Position
Indonesia is one of the few Asia-Pacific markets where available grid capacity, campus-scale land, and Special Economic Zone incentives align at scale. BDx’s 1.2GVA+ secured position in the country, across three campuses, reflects a deliberate bet on Indonesia as the region’s AI infrastructure growth market, where power access and land are substantially less constrained than in Singapore or Hong Kong.
The 500kW-per-rack design target positions CGK4 for Blackwell-class and successor GPU generations, which at high-density configurations routinely exceed 100kW per rack and are trending toward 200-350kW as air cooling gives way to direct liquid.
BDx operates across Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong SAR, and Taiwan. CGK4 will be its largest single campus at completion.
