AMD Q2 Data Center Revenue Up 107% to $6.7B — and May Co-Design Google's 10th-Gen TPU
AMD’s AI infrastructure position strengthened significantly in Q2 2026, and a separate SemiAnalysis report suggests it may be deepening its role in the hyperscaler custom silicon market.
Q2 data center numbers
AMD’s data center segment posted $6.7B in Q2 2026 revenue, up 107% year-over-year. EPYC server processors and Instinct AI accelerators drove the result. AMD has been expanding beyond standalone chips into networking, advanced packaging, and rack-scale integrated systems — a necessary move as hyperscalers shift from buying components to buying platforms.
The Google TPU angle
SemiAnalysis reports that Google is evaluating AMD as a design partner for its 10th-generation Icefish TPU. The collaboration, if confirmed, would draw on AMD’s CPU architecture expertise and its advanced packaging capabilities, both of which Google would bring to a custom silicon program that has previously relied on Broadcom for custom ASIC design work.
Google shifted its Icefish manufacturing to Samsung and MediaTek in a break from prior suppliers reported earlier this year. A design co-development role for AMD would be separate from the manufacturing layer — AMD would contribute IP and engineering, not fab capacity.
What this means for AMD’s market position
AMD’s total addressable market in AI infrastructure has largely been framed around competing against Nvidia GPUs. A recurring role as a custom silicon design partner for hyperscalers — alongside its own GPU and CPU sales — would represent a different and potentially more durable revenue stream, less subject to the GPU commodity cycle.
Wedbush analyst commentary flagged the Google TPU co-design report as a signal to watch for confirmation. If AMD becomes a design partner across multiple hyperscaler programs, it significantly expands the ceiling on data center revenue beyond what Instinct GPU volumes alone can support.
